What's on my wall, 2 wins......

This week has been a very busy one.  My son returned from his fishing trip, so my Grandma duties have ended till next week when he goes back to work.   I did manage to spend a little time sewing and, so, below is an update in pictures of the progress in my Christmas in the Cabin quilt and my Turnover/ Pinwheel quilt.
Center four blocks together ready for half-square triangle border.

3  15" Blocks completed, stitching the final 6 together.
This quilt was part of the Pre-Cut Party sew along that was run by Sarah & Roseanne.  I was lucky enough to win a prize from Sarah for joining in and today it arrived in the mail.  Forgot to take the photo until I had opened it up. Sarah had wrapped it in paper tied with string, decorated with a doily and little n attached. Inside was a charm square of Half Moon Modern and a beautiful card. Thank-you very much Sarah. Sarah has a online shop, Patchwork Plus, so pop over and check it out. She has lots of great pre-cuts, fabrics, patterns plus much more, all at great prices.

Also I was lucky enough to win some e-patterns from Stacey at Staceys Place. I received 4 patterns in all, 3 quilts and a wall hanging. 2 of the quilts use pre cuts and are easy to make so go and check them out at the link above. Thank you again Stacey.
On Monday at group, we also did Block number 8 for our BOM Mystery Quilt. Only one more to go now.

Well must go, my hubby has the day off work today so we are heading off for lunch and the movies.
Till next time.... Happy Stitching. I

Camp Visit

This past week I have had my grandson staying with us as his Dad is away on a fishing trip. This meant that I couldn't go to my usual August quilting camp with the Beaudesert Quilters group at Tamborine.  I did manage to pay the girls a quick visit on Thursday whilst Jake was at school.
Some ladies catching up whilst others are already busy working on their projects.
The theme of the camp this time was Hearts and Flowers so below are a few of the Challenge place mats made to use at meal time.

My friend Chris has just become a grandma for the first time so she used photos of her grand-daughter in the hearts.

I was also lucky enough to be given a spare badge and a heart made by Sue which were to be handed out to everyone at last nights dress-up dinner.  I felt very spoilt.  Thank you Sue. I have signed up for the next camp in March which has the theme of Teddy Bears, Dolls and Cupcakes.

The writing says 'Scatter seeds of Kindness everywhere you go'
Really wish I could have been there but am looking forward to the next one.  Hope all my fellow quilters had a great time and got lots of sewing done.   Happy Stitching All........

Friday Night Sewing

Friday night I joined other stitchers to work on some of my projects.  I have been unable to post about it due to some disaster with the internet in my area which has left me without any access since Friday morning.  This morning when I got up and noticed the orange light was still on, I was really annoyed but decided that as I had been told on Saturday it could take up to 48 hours to fix,  I would give it a bit longer before I rang again.  By 11.00 the green light had come on so all is well again.
Here are some pictures of the sewing I did using a pre cut.  I was going to use a charm square but then decided to use a Crazy Eight turnover which I have had in my stash for ages.

Here are some of the blocks ready for stitching.  The turnover makes 9 blocks .  I alternated light and dark turnovers in the pin wheel.

First block finished up on my wall.

For the last  block, I ran out of  light turnovers.  Luckily I had some leftover Crazy 8 honey bun strips from a previous quilt and was able to piece 4 light turnovers for the centre block.
I stitched a few more blocks to-day so only have 2 more to go before I can put it together.  The pattern I used is one I found on You Tube by the Missouri Quilt CO.  I would have liked to be able to check back with the tutorial as I went but with no internet, I had to go with the few notes I had made previously.
As I also stitched along with the Friday Night Stitch In ladies as well, I  made two more blocks towards my Cabin in the Woods quilt designed by Janelle Wind.  This quilt was a pattern that was part of Christmas in July put on by Quilt Fabric Delights which I joined last month.  In all over the month everyone received more than 15 patterns. One more block to go then a narrow red border followed by a half square triangle border and final outer border.
I'm very pleased with what I managed to get done so a big THANKS to Heidi and Bobbi  (FNSI) and Sarah and Roseanne (PRE CUT SEW IN).  I had a great night and am now going to check out what everyone else did.   Till next time.... Happy stitching.......

FNSI, Pre-Cut Party

It's Friday Night Sew In time again and I am joining Heidi & Bobbi along with many other quilters in a night of sewing this Friday. You can sign up at Bobbi's blog, 'Crafty Vegas Mom' if you would like to join in..

I have also joined Sarah & Roseanne  for a pre-cut sew-in. It is on Friday as well so if you would like to join in, go and visit  Sarah to link up.
I 'm thinking I had better get started early on Friday night so I can get lots done.  Will post on Saturday and show you what I was working on.

Ekka, OPAM finish

Last Friday I went to the Ekka with Scott, Tom & Jake.  The boys enjoyed the train ride there.   We had a wonderful day and I even managed to check out the quilts that were on display as well as the arts and crafts and the iced cakes.  The boys went on lots of rides, checked out the baby animals and got a few show bags before we headed back home.  They both went to sleep in the car on the way home.

When 's the train coming?

Hang on, I think we might get wet here.

The boys loved the pirate ride.  Just trying to dry out in the sun.

Jake loved being in his bubble.

I think this car might be as good as Grandad's.

My favourite cow.  The dexter.  I was feeling like joining them for a snooze by the end of the day.
I have been getting a little stitching done and have been able to finish my machine mat and sewing  machine cover.  The cover looks a bit plain so am going to make a flower to go on the front.  I  made these to use on my next camp at Evans Head in September.
That's all for now.......Till next time ......

Rod Run, Charity Quilt...

On Saturday, we joined the Rod Squad Hot Rod Club on a run to Harrisville.  The cars all met at Queens Park, Ipswich for registration before joining the run to our final destination about an hour away. On arrival we enjoyed billy tea and damper cooked in a camp oven. It was as delicious as was the pig on the spit we had for dinner as the sun went down. Freezing on the way home with many layers of clothing trying to keep out the cold, but in all a great day.

Rods lined up at Queens Park.
Arrival at Harrisville

The owner of this car would have been pretty cold driving home. The windscreen  was about chest height.

This little piggy was ready to eat.
And last but not least, one of the members of our quilting group asked if we would all help to put together a quilt for a charity auction which is being held to help raise money for her friends' son.  He became paralysed due to a cliff fall whilst on holiday overseas. My contribution was the hand embroidery  label.

The quilt is called Hopes & Dreams so I made the label in the shape of a cloud.
Well lots more stitching going on in my room this week, will be back soon to show you.
Happy Stitching all......

BOM Mystery Quilt, Potato Bag Update, Quilting

Last Monday our quilt group had our July  Mystery BOM day again.  I was a bit lazy and didn't take my machine along so just cut the block pieces out at group and stitched them together today.  I always find it is easier doing it at home as no distractions whilst sewing and I seem to have less reverse sewing which always makes me happy.  Seven blocks done now with only 2 to go.
Also this week I have pinned my grandson's quilt on my John Watts Quilter ready for stippling.  I must admit it was a bit harder to pin than my practice piece as that was a single strip of fabric with no joins and easier to get tight on the roller. I have rolled the top on as best I can, so hope it will all work out in the end. I am really nervous about starting it and keep putting it off. When my hubby gets home from work, his first question is "Have you made a start on Josh's quilt today?", so, after a day's outing with the hot rod tomorrow, I'll  have no more excuses. Wish me luck.

This week I finally used my potato bag and below are a few photos.  It definitely was a success as the potatoes turned out great. Just wrap potatoes in paper towel, put in the bag then in microwave (about 7 minutes) and they are ready.

Till next time.....  Happy Stitching.....
