Tonight I put the finishing touches to my Stitch-a-long project for May. It has been completed for a couple of days but felt it was a bit plain so added a Suffolk puff and 2 buttons on the front. Think it looks better now. I decided not to do the stitchery as it was optional but added a pocket inside for phone and keys.
So that's all from me tonight, still working on my wall hanging for 13 UFOs in 2013. Have the top completed but need to sandwich it and do a bit of quilting, then bind so am cutting it fine.
Happy Stitching till next time.................
I'm looking forward to a great 2016. I have so many UFO's that I would like to complete this year, fingers crossed I will be able to do that and have time to spend with all my quilting buddies as well.

1 Xmas Item a Month - May
I have been a bit quiet this week as my machine has been away for service and I finally got the call to pick it up yesterday so even though it has only been ten days, it seems like a month or more since I have done any sewing on it. I worked on my Xmas item last night and finished it off today so only one day late with posting and am happy with that. Below is a photo of my item. Thank you to Narelle from Pins and Whiskers blog for hosting this. Link is on my sidebar if you want to check out what others have made.
This was supposed to be a mini quilt but I have added loops on the top and am going to buy a metal hanger for it when I can find one. Have quite a few hangers in my stash but of course don't have the right size. Have also stitched another one of these designs but will just make that one into the mini quilt. This is a Nancy Halvorsen design from one of her older books.
Also whilst I was at the quilt shop, I managed to see these fabrics (actually my friend Jan pointed them out). Haven't been able to find hot rod fabric like this before so just had to bring some home with me. Will make a quilt for Chris, when I get a few other things out of the way, to use in the car so all hush hush here at the moment.
Well, must go and do a bit more in my sewing room as lots of things on the go and still a couple more finishes to get done before the end of the month. Hope everyone has a great week. My quilting group is having a morning tea tomorrow with proceeds going to the Cancer Fund so that will be a lovely start to my week. Bye for now.... Happy Stitching........

FNSI, Stitcher's Inc May Blog Meet
Last night I joined the quilters on the other side of the world for FNSI. My sewing machine is away having a service so I worked on Secret Sewing preparation for lots of swaps that I have coming up.
This is all I can show of my prep as other than the SKOW bag, it is all Secret stuff and will have its reveal at a later date.
Today I attended the Brisbane Stitcher's Inc blog meet. It was held at the Community Room at Garden City Shopping Centre with about 15 ladies attending. We had a fun day stitching together . It's always lovely to meet new friends as well as catch up with old. I was lucky enough to win the door prize.
Below is the gift I received from Maree, a pin cushion and a lovely Willow Valley Store vintage stitchery pattern.. I already had the Vignette mag that came with it so I gave it to one of the other ladies to read.
Thank you Maree.
Maree also brought along some Cottage Garden Threads from her shop Ollie and May for us to buy if we wished. I bought 8 of these beautiful threads. I have used them in a few projects lately and love stitching with them. If you go over to Maree's blog you can check them out along with other goodies she has for sale.
Below are a few photos from today.
Thank you for a wonderful day ladies. I look forward to the next one.
Now for some stitching......... See you next time............ Hugs........

Lets Celebrate Swap
I belong to Mrs Martins Quilt Shop Lets Celebrate Swap and my partner is Kali. She has been away and has just got back this week. I received an email from her saying she had opened the gift I sent to her as part of our Mothers Day Swap, the second of seven sent over the course of this year. We were asked to send fabric, trims, buttons etc. Below is what I sent to Kali.
I'm glad Kali likes her gifts and I look forward to seeing how she uses them either with the pattern I sent her or in some other way of her choosing.
Thank you to Karen for hosting this swap which I am enjoying immensely.
Well off to my sewing room now as I need to do a few things on my machine before I put it in for a service tomorrow. By the time I get it back, I will only have a week to get all my finishes done for the end of the month. Till next time.........Happy Stitching to all my blogging friends............
2 Fat quarters in Kali's chosen colours, cottage garden thread, Cinderberry Stitches pattern, ric rac, cotton lace, buttons and some thread holders. I forgot to take a photo of the wrapped parcel. |

My Mothers Day
My Mothers Day celebration started yesterday with a lunch of fish and chips brought to our place by my eldest son, Scott. He had his eldest son down for the weekend and so I was able to see both his boys together which made my day. Tom and Jake gave me a special card along with these beautiful flowers. Thank you so much my darling boys.
Also from Scott and my second son Todd and his family, I received this gorgeous bracelet.
It has a cow (I collect cow stuff),a teddy bear, my favourite colour blue, initial N, sparkly bauble, my birth sign and another small bear (I collect bears too). I have wanted one of these for a while, so thank you my lovely family for getting me one.
I also got to spend this morning with Todd, my lovely DIL, Deb and GS, Josh at the Tamborine Markets. We had breakfast and then spent the rest of the morning looking at the stalls. I ended up picking up a few things along the way.
Just as we were about to leave, the rain decided to come down so the boys pulled on their hoodies and we girls just had to brave the wet. Missing is my GD, Kiah, who had to work today.
We headed home for lunch with my daughter and her fur baby Rusty. Hot roast chicken sandwiches followed by pikelets and jam. Kym brought me some scratchy tickets. Thought I was on a winner with this one as the extra prize word was our surname YOUNG, which we had a bit of a laugh about, but unfortunately the O did not come up. Oh well not a winner of money today but a big winner in the family stakes and that's all that matters.
Below is a family photo of us all taken last year. Since this photo I have lost 13 kg so another reason to be happy.
I love you all very much, thank you for spending time with me, and to the boys for being so patient while Deb and I shopped and for making my Mothers Day weekend so very special. Well a rather long post so hope you made it to the end.
To all the other Mum's out in blog land, I hope you too had a wonderful day. See you soon. Hugs.........

My hubby bought me the two pendants at the top and the fob watch in the box at the front. I bought some funky owl rings for $5 each, some goats soap plus the gorgeous scarf below. |

Let's Celebrate Mothers Day Swap, Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt.
This is the second swap of seven over the course of the year with the same partner. My partner is Kali of Mollyandmeandbabymakesthree.blogspot.com.au. I sent my parcel off last week. Wrapped in striped paper and tied with a pretty bow. The only thing I forgot to do was take a photo of the parcel. Have plenty of photos of the contents but will not post these until Kali opens the gift when she returns home after Mothers Day.
I received my gift a couple of weeks ago but did not open it until last week. Below are the contents of my parcel from Kali.
Kali sent a beautiful fat quarter, a Pincushion pattern, a heart hanger, some vintage look lace and braid, a little notebook and a card wishing me a Happy Mothers Day. Thank you so much Kali, they are all lovely and I look forward to using them in a project soon.
Also a big Thank you to Karen from Mrs Martin's Quilt Shop for hosting the Let's Celebrate Swap.
I'm patiently awaiting the next Vignette Magazine by Leanne Beasley. I read somewhere that the magazine should be out by the end of May so not too long to go now. In the new magazine, Leanne is starting a new quilt called Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt. I decided I would do this one and have been able to buy a kit for the fabrics and threads from Stitches from the Bush. The fabrics are lovely Tilda ones and the threads are Cosmo.
So that's it from me tonight. Happy stitching till next time.......... Hugs........

Friday Night Sewing, Brisbane Hot Rod Show, Christmas in July Swap.
Last night I joined FNWF and this is what I managed to get done.
I have had this small kit for quite a few years so decided it was about time I made it up. The photo on the left are the 2" strips I cut out and stitched together to make the background. On the right is a photo of how the finished wall hanging should look and in the bottom photo are all the blocks cut from the panel ready to be stitched to the background. I was on a bit of a roll but couldn't have a late night as I had to be up early this morning for a trip to the Brisbane Hot Rod Show with Chris. I was still pleased with the start I made.
Here are a few photos from the show. Chris seemed to be keen on the orange cars today and took quite a few photos of them. Our new car will most likely be red but not too many red ones entered.
Also this week I joined Cheryll's Christmas in July Swap so go here to read about it and if you would like to sign up you can do so by leaving a comment on her blog post. Cheryll's swaps are always great fun and it is a great way of meeting other people who like to blog and have similar interests.
Well, now I am going to check out what other people got up to last night. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs..........

Simply Christmas Book win, 13 UFO's in 2013.
It's late so this will be a quick post. Today I received a parcel from Gail Pan and in it was her new book, Simply Christmas. I entered a competition on her blog and was one of three lucky winners.
I have had a look through the book and it contains lots of lovely Christmas stitching. My son who was here when I got it out of the letterbox has already put in an order for a wall hanging. Better get some things on my to do list finished so I can make it for him.
Below is my finished quilt top for my 13 UFO's in 2013 challenge. Have found a few tutorials on tying so hope to use this method to finish it off. Have pinned the batting to the top, which has prairie points around the edge, ready for the backing. Hope to work on it a bit more tomorrow.
Well that's all from me tonight. Happy Stitching till next time...........Hugs.
