Friday Sewing ....... OPAM win .......

I joined in with lots of other ladies last night to work on the last of my Christmas swap gifts.
Managed to get a few things finished but this is the only thing I can show as the other photos would give too many secrets away.
This is the back of the gift. Love this Nancy Halvorsen fabric.

I also cut out and prepared the stitchery for this Natalie Bird bag I need to have finished for my Sunday Stitchers group next week. The fabric has birds on it so changed the mice to birds on the stitchery part. Found a bird drawing from one of Natalie's books so that was lucky.

A big thank you to Wendy from Sugarlane Quilts for again hosting  FNSI. You can pop over here to see what everyone else got up to.
Last month I won one of the October prizes for OPAM.  Thank you Peg and Kris for hosting again in 2014 and a big thank you to Kris for sending this gorgeous parcel.

I love this pattern as the saying suits me to a tee.
Well must go and spend some time with my hubby.
Till next time....... Happy Stitching..........

OPAM for October

This month I have been working on some secret sewing so can't show any of that but I can show you a few Christmas things I have finished.
A Gail Pan wall hanging is complete just waiting for a rusty hanger and bells when I get around to ordering some.
I am so happy with how this turned out, used a Cottage Garden thread called Mistletoe and finished it off with some Nancy Halvorsen fabric.
Also completed 2 more Christmas ornaments. Finally found some trim I liked for the tree one.
So three finishes for this month.  Will also add these to 1 Xmas Item a Month blog. Thanks to Narelle from Pins and Whiskers blog for hosting this one.
Just a short post today. Have been busy as Chris took some holidays so we could paint the bathroom and kitchen which are now done.  I am still sorting out cupboards and trying to downsize by getting rid of things I have accumulated over the years but don't use now.

I think the worst part of painting is that everything has to come off the walls and put back when you're finished. That's slowly getting done.
Well must go, be back soon      ...........

OPAM, 1 Xmas Item a Month, 12"Mini Swap......

OPAM is here again with another month ending. Thanks to Peg and Kris for hosting.
My finishes for September.

A Xmas ornament  and a sneak peek of a 12"Mini which is still in transit to it's new home.
The ornament is for 1 Xmas Item a Month hosted by Narelle and the 12"Mini Swap was hosted by Cheryll.   Thank you to both of these wonderful ladies.
Yesterday, I received my mini from Maria. We both attend the Sunday Stitchers group so it was a surprise to see Maria's name on the parcel.
Some blue fabric, special glass head pins from Manchester, a chocolate fudge bar which my hubby has his eye on and my very very cute Mini. Great  caravan fabric.

I particularly enjoyed reading Maria's little notes on each of my gifts. Thank you Maria, I love them all.
Well must go as I have lots to do this afternoon.

I have just finished this wine topper which was made with the off-cuts from the top runner.
Both of these are heading to my sister for her birthday.
I have been away for the last 5 days on a retreat with the Beaudesert Quilters so will be back soon to show you what we got up to.
Till then...... Happy Stitching

OPAM/1 Xmas Item a Month finish, 12"Mini Swap.

The past week has been a bit of a blur with Jake (my GS) home from school with an infected knee due to falling off a friends bike. With visits to the doctor's surgery each day for dressing changes, entertaining one bored 10 year old with lots of word search games, the days just flew by. He is on school holidays now so his Mum is looking after him for a few days.
On Sunday I finally got into the sewing room to put the last stitches into my 12"mini which is now finding its way down south to a new owner.
This is all I can show at present until I hear it has arrived.
I received my mini from Kim today and I must say I love, love, love it so a big Thank You  Kim. I haven't got around to taking a photo as yet but will do so tomorrow and post it very soon.

My one finish for OPAM and 1 Xmas Item a Month is a Angel Xmas ornament. I love this pattern and have made quite a few already with still more prepared ready to stitch.
This one I decided to put some little rusty bells around the outside and am really pleased with how it looks. What do you think?
Well it is late and I am going to help my son clean out his garage tomorrow so an early start is on the cards.
Till next time........ Happy Stitching.........

OPAM finish, 12 UFO's in 2014, other bits and pieces.

This is my finish for 1 Xmas Item a Month. I have already blogged about it on the blog set up by Narelle from Pins and Whiskers but needed to add it to here for OPAM.
Christmas Treats table runner. Below is photo of how I quilted it.

I also need to show my Table runner as I forgot to say in my last post that this is my May finish for 12 UFOs in 2014 hosted by Marti. The parade of finishes will be on Marti's blog at the end of the month if you wish to check it out. Just click on the logo on my side-bar to go to the blog. Thanks to Marti for hosting and encouraging me to get a few of my UFOs completed.
I have also been working on a couple of other things.
My Sunday Stitchers blog group are working on Gossip in My Garden by Anni Downs. I am playing catch up but here is the block I am working on at the moment.
I am using Nancy Halvorsen fabrics and some other background fabrics that I have had in my stash for a number of years. Am pleased with how they are looking so far.
I have also joined the Fat Quarter Shop's Wishes Quilt Along. This is the first block. Have a few more blocks to make to catch up with this one as well.  I bought the fabric kit from the FQS and a new free block is put on their blog each month for you to download. You can make a donation to the Make a Wish foundation and the FQS will equal the amount donated to help this wonderful cause.
On Friday, 8 of the ladies from my quilting group are going on a bus trip with the Beenleigh Quilters to The Bribie Island Quilters Show. Looking forward to this outing.
Well that's all from me today, must get out to my room now and get some preparation done for Chookyblue's Sewing weekend. If you wish to join in and stitch along to help Chooky celebrate The Chookshed's 2nd birthday, go over to here, read about it and add your comment to her post.
Till next time..............Happy Stitching..........

Only 1 finish for OPAM

Where has this month gone? Thought I would get heaps done but not to be, so this is my only finish for  April.
A Christmas stitchery by Rosalie Quinlan.
I have also completed another stitchery by Rosie that we were given at Let's get Stitched in March when she was a surprise designer. I am thinking I will put it in a stitching hoop so just have to find time to go out and search for one the right size. Rosie added my name and hers on the bottom so this makes it more special to me although she did this for most of the ladies at the stitching day. She is one gorgeous lady.
My hubby had some time off as well so we headed off on a mid-week hot rod run to Tarampa pub for lunch (about and 90 minutes away).
It was a great day so here are some photos of us waiting for our lunch and the cars lined up outside the pub.

Well must go as I want to finish the quilting on a table topper today. Then I can work on the binding tomorrow night for FNWF. Sign up is now on over at Cheryll's blog so if you want to join in, head on over to here.
Till next time ................ Hugs...........

OPAM ,12 UFO's in 2014 finish, Tamborine Retreat Show and Tell

Here is another finish to include in my OPAM tally. The twister table runner I've made for my son Scott makes a total of 4 finishes for this month. I finally got it quilted and the label attached.

This is also my March finish for 12 UFO's in 2014 run by Marti at Aunt Marti's 52 Quilts.
Below are some batiks I bought from the fabric man who came along on Sunday to our retreat. Am going to make a hexagon quilt for my daughter from these. Need to find a few more purples to go with them before I do though.
I will close with a couple of quilts from our show and tell on Monday night.

Aren't these gorgeous, just had to show a photo of them.

You can see by the above photos the hexie theme of the camp was well represented.
Well must go, see you next time..........

Another finish for February OPAM.

This is my 1 Xmas Item a Month finish for February.
It is a Michelle Ridgway pattern called A Jolly Holly Gathering and can be found on Michelle's blog. I am a bit late in getting this finished as I began stitching the blocks last year along with Michelle and a couple of other ladies and I am the last to complete mine.  Thank you Michelle for asking me to stitch along with you, I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey.
I chose to stitch it in a Cottage Garden Thread called Mistletoe and am very happy with how the threads look.  I chose a couple of Nancy Halvorsen fabrics to complete the blocks and finished the quilt off by adding a hanging sleeve to the back. All I have to do now is find a hanger for it.
I am hoping to have one more finish for this month so best get out to my room and get sewing.
Till next time........ Happy Stitching..........

OPAM, 1 Xmas Item a Month, Let's Get Stitched.

I don't know what is happening but here we are in February already and January is but a blur.
I again joined Kris and Peg for OPAM this year and sadly I only have one finish which was my 1 Xmas Item a Month. This year we have a dedicated blog for this and once signed up with Narelle of Pins and Whiskers, we can add our own post to the blog, which I did, but I also need to show the photo on here for OPAM.
I have quite a few things on the go though and so hope I will have a better tally of finishes for February.

Lastly, I  am also working on my mug rug and bus trip badge for Let's Get Stitched in Melbourne which I am attending this year. It is on from the 6th to the 9th of March. I am really looking forward to making new friends and catching up with some old ones as well. Quite a few of the Queensland attendees are all on the same plane heading down south so that may be interesting. Hope we're not too noisy and get thrown off the plane!
Well that's all from me tonight. Happy Stitching till next time.
