FNWF, Ruby photos.

Last night I joined a group of lovely ladies and did some sewing. As I have some Xmas swaps on the go, I can't show you much of what I did but can give a sneak peek of a couple of things without giving too much away. Working with a bit of felt, some Ric Rac and adding some Christmas borders to a  stitchery.

I completed a couple of Xmas tree ornaments as well so in all not a bad night's stitching.
Today we attempted to give Ruby a bath, she was clean for a couple of hours then we had a storm with a little hail thrown in for good measure so after romping around in the mud, she is now as dirty as she was before her bath.

She loves the water and her pool which she has almost outgrown. With the hot weather she's been losing her thick undercoat so brushing every day has been a necessity
It's hard to believe she has her 1st BIRTHDAY next week.
Well must go. Will check out some blogs tomorrow and see what all of you got up to. Thanks for hosting Chez. Hope you are having a great holiday...........

Friday Night Results.....

This is what I managed to work on, on  Friday night when I joined Chez and a few other ladies for a spot of sewing.  Thank you to Cheryll for again hosting Friday night with Friends.

Firstly I added pellon to the back of these stitcheries and then cut them out. Just need to trace the larger hexagon onto the background fabric and then stitch to each hexagon.......

and they should turn into one of these, a lovely table runner, pattern is 'C is for Christmas', by Michelle Ridgway of Rag-Tag Stitchin'.
I also did some work on my Natures Journey. More stitching of those 2"squares to make the nine patches for one of the borders but until I get the centre block finished, I can't join it all together.

I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever finish this centre block but there is not much to do now, just a flower and of course, all that satin stitch on the stems.
Well that's it for me tonight. Till next time, happy stitching..........

Friday Night Sewing

I joined Wendy on Friday night for a spot of sewing. I was very happy with what I managed to get done as my sewing mojo which disappeared for a while, may at last be starting to return.
This week I am heading off to a retreat on Wednesday so had to make a place mat for this. The theme of this retreat is 30's reproduction. Found a few fabrics from my stash and started to put the place mat together.
This is where I got to, just need to add batting and backing to finish.

Also worked on this, am way behind with my July /August parts of Natures Journey.  I need to finish my stitching on the middle block before I can add the pink border on but it is ready to go when I do.

Still lots of stitching to go.

A big thank you to Wendy for again hosting. Can't wait to catch up with you next February Wendy. Will have a quick look later to see what everyone else got up to. I have just downloaded Windows 10 and am having lots of trouble finding my way around unfamiliar territory. Bye till next time.

They turned out better than I expected. Below are the other blocks for June.

Now to start on the July block which is the large centre block. A pieced background with flowers and birds appliqued on it.

Thank you Cheryll for hosting, am going to check out what everyone got up to later as dinner awaits.
Bye for now..........Thanks to all who stitched along with me........

Friday Sewing, Natures Journey, 1 Xmas Item a Month, Cooly Rocks.......

Friday night I joined other like minded ladies in a bit of sewing. Thank you to Cheryll from Gone Stitchin for again hosting this fun night. I managed to get a few things done which included some prep work for my June blocks for Natures Journey.
I cut some blocks for the backgrounds and traced out the shapes for the blanket stitch applique to go on them. Just need to get started on the blanket stitch circles and squares first.

Then I worked on a couple of blocks from my C is Christmas table runner by Michelle Ridgway. These blocks are for my May finish for 1 Xmas Item a Month hosted by Narelle from Pins and Whiskers blog. I know, I know I'm a bit late. Thanks Narelle.

Finally, yesterday we made a quick trip down to Coolangatta for Cooly Rocks, a hot rod and rock'n'roll festival held each year. It was quite windy and very cold early on but that didn't stop a big crowd from turning up. We looked at all the cars, then watched the parade and before we came home checked out the stalls. I was very good this year and didn't buy anything.

We had a lovely day but were happy to get home and see what this girl had got up to.
Only a couple of holes dug and an empty dish that needed refilling. Well that wasn't too bad as usually, she destroys a toy or two. Any suggestions for toys that are indestructible?
Well must go, be back soon..........Happy stitching till then.......

Storm = no Friday Night sewing......Other stitching......

I live in South-East Queensland and yesterday, we had an almighty rain event. Through the day it rained quite heavy and we had water lying around our back door which has happened before with no bother. After dinner I walked up our hallway to find water pouring out of our drain in the bathroom. Luckily it had only just started to enter our bedroom but unfortunately it had travelled into the next bedroom which is now our computer room. Chris and I have never moved so quickly grabbing old towels and sheets to try to stem the flow of water from going any further. We spent the next couple of hours wringing out wet towels whilst trying to work out what was causing the problem. We finally realized that water was coming back up the pipe due to the overflow drain outside being blocked. Needless to say, today I have been washing loads of wet towels and sheets and trying to get wet carpet tiles to dry.
So no stitching done last night for Friday Night with Friends. Hope to get around to seeing what everyone else got up to soon. Thanks to Cheryll for hosting.

I will close with a couple of Christmas stitcheries that I have completed for April's  1 Xmas Item a Month hosted by Narelle at Pins and Whiskers.
These are blocks three and four of 9.

I also completed my April blocks for Chookyblue's SAL 2015.
My first EPP star block. I am really happy how these blocks are turning out.
Well must go.......... Lots to do...........
Happy Stitching till next time........

FNWF, Happy Easter....

I joined in on Friday night to sew along with many other ladies for FNWF hosted by Cheryll from Gone Stitchin. A big THANK YOU to Cheryll for doing so each month.
Firstly I spent about an hour trying to get some order in my sewing room, and after making a small dent in the mess, I then stitched the third hexagon  of 'C' is for Christmas by Michelle Ridgway before  finally starting another Xmas stitchery by Natalie Bird which I have had prepared for ages, didn't get much done on that one though before my bed began to call me.
I hope to get over to Cheryll's blog to check out some of your blogs later on today.

I hope everyone is having a HAPPY EASTER.We have been busy catching up with family over the weekend. I think lots of these were eaten for dessert.
I was very lucky as I don't eat much chocolate due to migraines if I over indulge so it was a lovely surprise to get this when I opened the Easter box.
A armchair pin cushion made by my son's friend Rowen. It is just gorgeous. Thank you so much Rowen, not sure I want to poke pins in it though.
Well must go as I have some hungry takers for lunch. This girl included. She has been having lots of fun with the wet weather and likes nothing better than rolling in mud. She will be five months old in another week.

Happy Stitching till next time.............

FNWF, Initial Heart Swap.

Last night I joined in to sew with lots of other quilters for Cheryll's Friday Night with Friends. A big Thank you to Cheryll for encouraging us again this year.
I began the night by working on the new SAL 2015 run by Chookyblue and her lovely assistant Susan. I was hoping to get some backgrounds cut out but all I managed, was to sort out the fabrics I would use for Part 1 and make myself some notes so I will have an action plan to follow when I do start tomorrow. I am thinking that I probably will blanket stitch most of the applique so traced the pieces on the back of the sheets so they are reversed and ready to copy them onto viseofix.

I am also still working on Gossip in the Garden, so to actually get some stitching to show, I prepared these hexies for two of the blocks. Think I have to make 75 in all so have about 25 ready, only 50 to go.
I do love those Nancy Halvorsen fabrics. Don't know what I will do when I run out of them.

I also wanted to show the gifts I received from Marilyn for the Valentine's Day Initial Heart Swap also hosted by Cheryll. Thank you Cheryll you are a legend.......
The parcel above contained the lovely gifts below.

A passport holder, three knitted wash cloths (see my initial knitted into the small yellow one), some chocolates and this little Golden Book which was a great read. I had a good laugh when I read it. Thank you very much Marilyn for the beautiful and thoughtful gifts you have made me. Hope to go for a trip later in the year so will put the passport holder to good use if that happens.
I sent my parcel off on Monday so hope it arrives soon. Can't show a photo as I completely forgot to take one of the wrapped parcel before I posted it.
Well must go, a few more hexies are calling me and hubby wants to use the computer.
Have a great weekend ...............Happy stitching till next time.......

FNwF .

Didn't end up getting much done as I spent a bit of time with my son and grandson who had a small accident at school on Friday. Jake's class had their Rewards Day which included a swim in the school pool. One of the other children in his class, accidentally tripped and fell in the pool landing on top of Jake who under the water. The boys teeth cut a gash in Jake's head. Beside lots of blood, the ambulance man said the cut didn't need stitches just cleaning and a bandage. Fortunately the boys teeth were okay as well.
Not so good for his Dad who had to rush to the school thinking it was much worse than it was.
Anyway getting back to Friday night, I did a bit of work on a Xmas table runner which I can't show yet. Then I worked on this stitchery to finish the night.
Thank you so much Cheryll for again hosting this night. You can check out what others got up too by going  here.
I am off to my quilting group's Xmas lunch today so I had better get going or I will be late.
Till next time.............. Happy Stitching...........
