Boonah Retreat

Last weekend my quilting group had the second of our retreats for the year. There was a mix-up with the booking so we had to go one week later than we had originally planned. This just happened to be the hottest week-end we have had for years and as the temperature climbed to over 42 degrees, my enthusiasm for sewing seemed to disappear.
We spent most of the day, with wet Chux hanging around our necks which I must admit helped to cool us down quite well.
Just a couple of photos of what I was working on..........
Some more charming stars for November.

A scrap bin and scissor holder. I love this Riley Blake fabric.
We also put together a community quilt we have been working on this year. It is to be given to a little girl who lives in our area and is going through a tough time with her health.
This is the block I did. I got to choose the fabrics to go around the stitcheries I had made previously and complete it. Kathy stitched all the blocks into the quilt top.

We found a cooler spot under the house to pin the quilt layers together ready for quilting.

The quilting was done by Denise who organized who did what with the quilt. She did a wonderful job considering it's pretty hard to keep us in order sometimes.
I think you will agree, it looks very pretty in all it's scrappiness. Just the label and binding to go and then it can be delivered.

It has taken a few days to recover from the heat and I must admit it's nice to be able to work in my room with the air-con on and that is where I am going now. See you later.........

LOVE the community /donation quilt. You ladies did an amazing job ( and your block is utterly gorgeous)

I kept thinking about all you Queenslanders last weekend – your weather was insane for this early in the season.
