Sunday Stitchers, Turning 21.......

Last Sunday was our monthly meeting for Sunday Stitchers. We had another wonderful day enjoying each other's company.  This time we finally received back our own row along quilt. Unfortunately I still can't show the top as we have one more row to do before we reveal our complete top to the other girls who didn't participate. The new row will contain some sort of embroidery, not sure what I will do as yet but we have until our final get together in November to complete it. This will add the 8th row to the quilt. To say I love my top is an understatement. It is amazing how all the tops looked so different.  I think everyone felt the same way as I do and loved how the theme for each row was adapted by the maker to suit the quilt they were working on.
This is a peek at my my first row which contained a bit of embroidery

A bit of Show & Tell above and below.  Jeanette's Gossip in the Garden top and her Gail Pan Xmas top.

Maree's Gossip top and her very cute Hexagon bag.

Dee's Chicken baby quilt, very cute.
On Wednesday, I headed down the coast for the night to have a special birthday dinner with my son's family. My grand-daughter, Kiah, turned 21 and it was lovely to celebrate with her on her actual birthday. The photo below was taken a couple of months ago as I forgot to take my camera  on Wednesday night. She is having a Harry Potter themed birthday party next weekend. I raided the op shops yesterday to find some clothes to wear. I am going as the pink lady and managed to get some pink clothing to wear from head to toe.
Well that's it for me today. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Till next...... Happy Stitching.............

FNSI.....

Had a great time sewing on Friday afternoon/night. Did some Xmas stitching, more ornaments for Xmas for family and friends, traditional red and green this time.

I never get tired of stitching this little snowman.
Also managed to get my first star block done for Terry's Charming Stars Sew Along. Have cut out the pieces for another 3 so will try to get them done this week. You can check this out on Terry's blog here.

I have used a Bonnie and Camille line called April Showers.
Also did some secret sewing on my Row Along quilt for Sunday Stitchers which I can't reveal as yet but in all a good afternoon and night sewing session.
Thank you Wendy for again hosting FNSI.

Well must be go as I am off to my quilting group today.
Bye for now.  Happy Stitching till next time.

Stitchers Dream Day Out....

Last Sunday I attended the Stitchers Dream Day Out run by The Quilters Angel in Toowoomba. I got to catch up with many of the Sunday Stitchers girls, we had two tables near each other which made for a fun day. The designers for the day were Debbie Magee and Libby Richardson who provided two patterns for each of us.

Above are the four projects, a Stitching Pillow and Memory Board from Debbie and a Folder Cover and Teddy Pillow from Libby.
Libby taught us how to paint the Teddy to use in the pillow project.

This is an extra pattern from Debbie, a needle holder.

Here we are having some lunch. Lynda, Marilyn, me and Sandi.  Photo courtesy of my friend Teresa.
Forgot to take a photo of the goodies I bought and received on the day. Will show that next time I post. In all it was a great day stitching and spending time with friends, it can't get any better than that can it?
Bye for now................

Tamborine Retreat.....

Thought I had better do a quick post about the retreat I attended 2 weeks ago. I had a lovely time while there despite having a bit of a health issue on the Friday, an unexpected visit to my doctors, then a few hours at the local hospital for tests, and a sleepover back at home before returning to the retreat on Saturday.
The retreat this time had a Mystery theme so we could make our placemat with any design of our choice. Below are some of the place mats made.

As you can see, definitely a wide variety of themes here.
There was a bring and buy table and a couple of fabric people came as well.
I made a few purchases. The batik is mainly purple but doesn't show up that well in the photo.

A few other bits and pieces.
Saturday night we had show and tell. The bags in the first photo were made at the retreat.  This is only a few of the quilts shown, the photos don't show how gorgeous they really were.

I didn't end up getting much done but will show what I worked on another day.
Be back soon..............

FNWF Results

These are the things I worked on for Friday Night With Friends.
My grand-daughter's quilt...... Started to add the borders to the fussy cut pieces from the panels.

Above are the fabrics that I purchased to go with the panels. As Kiah is interested in designing and making clothes and has recently completed a design course at TAFE, my choice of fabric to use was made easy when I saw this in a patchwork store. It is a work in progress and I'm making up the pattern as I go so wish me luck.
I also managed to get another couple of blocks made from an old UFO which uses a turnover precut. The pattern is from a U-Tube tutorial from the Missouri Quilt Company.

Still have seven more to go together before I can construct the quilt top.
I had an early start so by 9.30 pm I decided to go back inside and finish the night off with a bit of embroidery. I worked on this Xmas tree ornament.

In all a wonderful night for me, hope you had a great night too.
Till next time ...........Happy Stitching.........
PS Forgot to say a big THANK YOU to Chez for hosting...........
