OPAM ,12 UFO's in 2014 finish, Tamborine Retreat Show and Tell

Here is another finish to include in my OPAM tally. The twister table runner I've made for my son Scott makes a total of 4 finishes for this month. I finally got it quilted and the label attached.

This is also my March finish for 12 UFO's in 2014 run by Marti at Aunt Marti's 52 Quilts.
Below are some batiks I bought from the fabric man who came along on Sunday to our retreat. Am going to make a hexagon quilt for my daughter from these. Need to find a few more purples to go with them before I do though.
I will close with a couple of quilts from our show and tell on Monday night.

Aren't these gorgeous, just had to show a photo of them.

You can see by the above photos the hexie theme of the camp was well represented.
Well must go, see you next time..........

1 Xmas Item a Month, Back from Retreat

Here is my I Xmas Item a Month finish for March. You can find all the other finishes by clicking on the logo on my side -bar. Thank you to Narelle of Pins and Whiskers for running it again this year.
A Snowman Ornament to add to the gift box.
Firstly I would like to thank all those lovely ladies who left me a comment on my last blog post wishing me a fun time at my retreat. I definitely took your advice and had a very enjoyable 5 days. There was lots of talking, laughing and eating going on, as well as catching up with some old sewing buddies. I also got to meet some new ladies so new friendships were made as well. I was a bit slack with taking photos this time but here are a few to show the venue and also what I got up to.
Views outside our cabin.

My sewing space, Everyone working hard, Dress up Dinner on Monday night. Our meals were wonderful with lots of salads, fresh fruit , tasty main meals and freshly baked morning and afternoon teas and supper.

Here is my place mat, the theme this time was stars and hexagons plus the colour gold. I worked on my Cabin in the Woods table topper from a couple of years ago, just need to layer, baste and quilt it now.   Started to put these blocks together and made this hexagon flower in a mini class. Just needs a button in the centre.
Here is my name badge and we all got one of these click-clack bags to store our bits and pieces in made by Sue the camp co-ordinator.

I have some show and tell photos but will leave them until next time.
Till then Happy Stitching.....................

Can't wait to catch up with these girls again.

To finish, I want to show you the badge I received at Let's Get Stitched made by Joy Coey of JoyPatch.

Isn't it just gorgeous. Thank-you so much Joy.

Stitching Day Lets Get Stitched

This is my last post for LGS. We had our stitching day on the Sunday. It was a wonderful day with our goody bags holding lots of wonderful treasures including lollies to give us extra energy and tickets for extra prizes drawn throughout the day. Also all the gorgeous patterns with starter kits from each of the designers and guest designers were inside.
Jenny's Welcome Home Hanging, Vikki Columbine's PDF Folder, Joy's Doodle Blocks  , Dawn's Preston Bag, Fee's Everyday Retreat Bag, Marilyn's Shopping Compendium.
Vicki's Table Runner and fabric kit

Marilyn's kit with fabric & trimmings & one with just trimmings.
I was a bit late getting up to the table where the kits were and so only managed to buy the above.
Here is our table with our surprise guest designer Rosalie Quinlan paying us a visit, Dawn Hay, Teresa, Narelle, Michelle, De, me and Deb. I have lots of Rosalie's patterns so it was wonderful to meet her in person.
This is Rosalie's project for us. She kindly ironed on  the stitchery for most of us and signed the bottom  with my name and hers.  I will definitely treasure this.

The charm pack on the right was the one I received in my goody bag.

To finish, this is the back of my mug rug which has been signed by all who attended. The day was the highlight of the weekend. We had wonderful food, great company and managed to get some stitchery done as well.
Thank you to  Vicki, Dawn, Fee and Joy for making the weekend  such a success.
In March 2015, Let's Get Stitched will be in my home state of Queensland.
Well must go, till next time..........  Happy Stitching............

More Let's Get Stitched........

On Friday night we went to one of the 'Nutters' rooms and had a pizza and games night. Here we are ready to play some games. We all took along a charm pack in a brown paper bag and played a game passing the paper bags back and forth around the circle. In the end we ended up with a different charm pack to the one we took.

This is a photo of Mel taking a photo of me as I am taking a photo of her. Great to meet you Mel and Christine after following your blogs for quite a while.

This is the charm I ended up with
We had to end the night quickly when we had a tap on the door saying we were being a bit too noisy.
On Saturday we had a free day so about 11 of us headed off to the city via tram to visit Luccello's. Teresa led the way as she had been there before. The shop was in a little arcade and up a few floors of stairs but was well worth it. It is such a gorgeous shop, very small but packed full of goodies.

Teresa  & Me.

It was lovely to finally meet Shez.

I bought a buckle and matching buttons (I feel a bag is in order with these)some pretty vintage buttons, Ric Rac  and a pattern book for 21/2 " charms. Don't you love the brown paper bag they came home in?
Later after coffee and cheesecake, we checked out a book store and I purchased this book.
Michelle and De, my roomies, were then catching a train to go out to Somerset Patchwork  at Mt Waverley so I joined them and after a 40 minute trip we arrived. The shop which has mostly reproduction fabrics and paper piecing patterns, was only a few minutes from the station. I forgot to take photos there but ended up buying a pattern and a few fabrics to start with. This pattern uses the Lemoyne star so got the set of templates as well. I don't need papers and can either stitch by machine or hand.

We then headed back to the city and a bit more of a look around before heading back to the hotel.
Sorry for the photo overload, still have our stitching day to show you and all the goodies that were in our bag but will leave that for next time.        Happy Stitching till then.................

Home from Let's Get Stitched, Tired but Happy.

I have just attended my first Let's Get Stitched in Melbourne. It has been a fantastic experience, meeting many new friends as well as catching up with old ones. The highlight of the trip was meeting the Nutters, Vicki Tucek, Fiona Ransley, Dawn Hay and Joy Coey and then on Sunday when we had our stitching day, their special guest designers Vikki Columbine, Marilyn Duncan ( who kept the secret very well as she is one of my Sunday Stitchers Group) and Rosalie Quinlan. I have so many of Rosie's patterns, it was a great surprise and so wonderful to be able to meet her in person. The photo below is one taken at the stitching day of the group.
On Friday we went for a bus trip to several quilt shops, had lunch at Sassafrass and wandered around lots of little shops finally popping in to Spotlight to finish off the day. This photo was taken on Sunday of all the people who travelled on the bus.
We all did a secret badge exchange. I made one for Christine and mine was made by the lovely Joy Coey. It was just perfect Joy. Thank you so much.

Here are a few photos of the shops and my purchases on the day.

Top left : Braid & button from Stitch & Patch  Top Right : Fabric ,labels & braid from Lilly Patches   Bottom left : Fabric & wooden heart from Patchwork with Gail B  Bottom Right : Fabric & LED light from Spotlight.
We had lunch at Sassafrass at Miss Marple's Tea Shop (sorry no photo) and then I had a look through all the little shops there and found this clock for my lounge in a vintage style shop.

I have lots more to show but will leave it at this for today.
Will be back soon.           Happy Stitching till then................

On my way to Let's Get Stitched

I'm packed and just about to leave for the airport to catch my flight to Melbourne for Let's Get Stitched. Will be away till Monday. I purchased a Microsoft Surface to take with me but haven't had much time to play with it so I may or may not post while I am away. Not very good with the technical side of these gadgets.
Chris is pacing up and down so best go........See you when I get back.
I am so excited.....looking forward to meeting all the other Brisbane girls at the airport.
Till next time............Hugs........
