Sal July Project finished, OPAM.

Finished this little bag off last night just  24 hours before the deadline.  My first try at hexagons and I must say I sort of fell in love with them. Why have I always though they would be a nightmare to make I wonder? Anyway I can see a quilt made of hexagons in my future, just not sure when.
The bag is from Natalie Bird's Tis the Season book. I changed the stitchery from the penguin one as I liked the wording on this one and used more of my Nancy Halvorsen stash fabric to make the bag.

Isn't this one cute little bag even if I do say so myself. I love how these fabrics look together. So happy to have another finish to add to my OPAM list.
Happy Stitching, see you next time...........

Xmas In July Swap,

Today my Xmas In July parcel arrived. Thank you to Kate from Stitched with Love for my lovely gifts.
Lots of lovely reindeer on the Xmas paper.

A wall hanging in my favourite colour blue and a mug rug with a very cute Xmas tree on it.

Also in the package were three fat quarters, a French General Charm pack of Panier de Fleurs and some Threadworx Floss.
Thank you again Kate, I will enjoy using them at Xmas and look forward to finding some projects to use my fabrics and thread in.
In closing I would like to also thank Cheryll, our swap Mumma, for hosting another successful swap.
Happy Stitching till next time.................Hugs............

One Xmas Item a Month

Today I am posting the Xmas items I made this month.  I have made three and these were for the Xmas in July Swap run by Cheryll. Today was opening day for that swap and I'm sure Debbie my swap recipient has opened them so I can show them here.
Thanks to Narelle  from Pins & Whiskers for hosting this. You can check out what everyone else did by clicking on the link.

We had to make items from the letters in CHRISTMAS. I chose the following :
INSPIRATIONAL WORDS Wall Hanging

SANTA Ornament

SNOWMAN Table Topper.
Sorry the last photo is a bit blurry. My camera lens had fingerprints on it ( courtesy of my GS who wanted to take some photos) and all my snowman photos are the same although the red and brown fabrics are Basic Grey grunge ones and are bit blotchy to start with so that didn't help.
Well that's all from me today.  Be back soon.     Happy Stitching till then...........Hugs.......

FNSI results

I'm sorry this is so late but I got up this morning intending to do my post only to find hubby had left earlier to go to a hot rod breakfast and taken the camera with him so no photos until he came home, then of course not much Internet service so had to wait until now.
As usual I had the idea I would get so many things sewn on Friday night but the time passed in a flash and I only got a couple of the items on my list crossed off.
I am going to do Jenny of Elefantz 'Daisy Days BOM' so I started by tracing out the first two blocks ready to stitch. I am using Scrumptous by Bonnie and Camille so had to choose different thread to what Jenny has used.

Here are the fabrics and threads I will be using.
I also worked on my Tis the Season Chilly Penguin bag. I chose a different stitchery to use, so finished that off before cutting out my hexagons for the bag front. I am using the 1" iron on hexies from Hugs'n'Kisses. This is my first real go at hexies so hope it goes well when I stitch them together. I am using  Nancy Halvorsen fabric from my stash.

My Aiming for Accuracy blocks were next and are going slowly with a bit of unpicking going on. I had the first one done so managed to get Block 2 finished as well. Hope by the time I get to the end I will have mastered getting my seams to match up with no unpicking. Below is block one then block 2. Playing catch up here too with two more to go, and a new one made available each Thursday. Sorry the first two photos are a bit blurry due to my late night photography. Took the last photo with the two blocks today and the colour is much better.

I would like to thank Wendy for hosting FNSI as it always gives you more incentive to get things done when you know you are stitching along with friends.
Well that is all from me tonight. I popped around to visit some other blogs today.  It looks like everyone had a productive night.   Happy Stitching till I see you again...........

FNSI.

Tomorrow night is Friday Night Sew In hosted by Wendy from Sugarlane Designs. Heidi who usually hosts this is having a break for a while so a big thanks to Wendy for taking over so we can still get together. If you would like to sign up and sew with a number of like minded quilters, click on the link above.

I will be sewing my blocks for Aiming for Accuracy QAL , one down and two to go or make that three as another one was posted today. Also have my SAL Tis the Season hexagon bag on the go plus numerous other things to do so hope for an early start and a late finish.
Well must go and do more prep.  Hope to see you tomorrow night. Got the coffee and the biscuits ready if you do.        Hugs..........

Xmas in July Swap, Aiming for Accuracy QAL.

My parcel for my swap partner is on it's way and should be there in a day or two. Here are my gifts, wrapped and ready before posting. I have loved making these and am looking forward to the 25 th when they will be opened by ????? Maybe it could be you............  A big thank you to Cheryll for hosting this.

I have also joined the Aiming for Accuracy QAL (link on side bar).  Well, we are at week 3 and I have to get a wriggle on to complete the first 3 blocks and catch up. I have them cut out so just have to sew them together. I had selected Giddy fabrics from my stash but after looking at what I had, realised that I would struggle to have enough fabric for some of the bigger blocks so below are the fabrics that I have now chosen (again from my stash but with a couple of bigger pieces in the mix). So that is what is on my agenda for tomorrow.

It is an old Moda line called Nell's Flower Garden. Below are photos of a Leanne Beasley sewing roll and a table runner that I made from it in 2008 so the fabric has been around for a good while.

Well must go and see if I can get a bit more stitching done tonight.  Be back soon.............

Family Visit, Baby Hugs & A Bit of Stitching

This past week has just flown. I have been working on my Xmas in July gifts and am pleased to say am on the final one, so today they will be finished ready to wrap for posting. No photos yet as all the swappers are  going to open them together on the 25 th July. Thanks to Cheryll for hosting this as it has been fun working on my gifts.
At the end of last week we had a visit from my hubby's brother and his family who stayed with us for several days.  They live in Melbourne and are up here for a wedding this coming weekend on Stradbroke Island.  As it is a beach wedding, I am hoping the weather is kind and the predicted showers don't eventuate.
We really enjoyed catching up with them as it has been a while. They also did a bit of sight seeing, visiting Sea World one day and  checking out the new Sky Walk on Tamborine Mountain another day.  On their last day they had time to check out Chris's new hot rod project and Rodger took his son, Oscar, for a spin around the block in our roadster which they both enjoyed.
Rodger, Alison and Oscar in front of  Chris's WISP.
Then yesterday I spent the day with my sister. She was baby sitting her grandson and my great nephew, Ari as my niece, Angela, had an appointment so it was a great opportunity to catch up with her as well as see Ari again..  He is now 6 weeks old and is as cute as a button. I got a chance to have lots of cuddles. He was doing lots of smiling and he really loved lying on his back kicking his legs.
His dad, Paras, actually bought the rocker as a kit and did the weaving on the chair himself. It was so comfy and Ari went straight to sleep after his feed. It's nice to know I haven't lost my touch.
I'll close with a bit of stitching I have been doing.  Michelle of Rag Tag Stitchin asked if I would stitch these along with her. I am using a Cottage Garden thread called Mistletoe and are really happy with the result so far. Below are the first four completed. Haven't chosen the fabrics I will use with them as yet.

So that's all from me for now. Till next time........ Happy Stitching.............
